Virgin Atlantic Upper Class isn't about getting from A to B; it's about an experience delivered with flair. This spirit was brought to life for the airline’s flagship Clubhouse at Heathrow, creating a 2,500 sq m lounge—completed in 2006 on an £11 million budget—that helped define Virgin’s reputation for hospitality and entertainment. The space includes a library, bar, deli, full-service restaurant and a complete range of travel facilities, all arranged within an open, flowing environment inspired by London and the British Isles.
Balance was key to such an expansive design. A 14-metre cocktail bar and dining area forms the lively social hub at its centre, while quieter zones like the spa and hot tub offer sanctuary around the edges. Two decades on, the Clubhouse continues to attract industry and passenger acclaim, earning titles including ‘Best Airline Lounge’ and ‘Best Airport Lounge in the World’, and standing as one of the brand’s most recognisable icons.
